In 2006 a 20/20 Entertainment group had the idea of creating an online magazine for the dancing community in South Florida. The Perfect Scene, was going to be a way to inform its visitors about all kinds of events including dancing, music and local festivals.
The development of the magazine stopped when the original founder Marco Peralta saw the bigger picture and wanted to expand his idea. The other members didn’t agree with his vision and suggested he was being to ambitious. With the knowing that he could succeed, Marco decided to leave the team and start his own venture. A few weeks after he left what he had started, the project was abandoned by the rest of the members and that was the end of 20/20 Entertainment Group.
These are some of the logos used by 20/20 entertainment group (parent company) for the online magazine.

Soon after he went on his own, Marco decided to start www.planetscene.tv originally a site to connect people around the globe with the same interests. Planet scene was a site where users could map all kinds of events and hot spots in their area such as dance clubs, bars, lounges, restaurants, hotels, concerts, dance schools etc. Planet scene launched in 2007 under the name of www.mamboplante.tv
The word “mambo” means “conversation with the Gods,” it also resembles a Latin dance of Cuban origin that corresponds to mambo music.
With a fast growing number of members, www.mamboplanet.tv became a local site for the dancers, dance instructors and dance schools located in Metropolitan Area of Miami.
Mambo Planet had as a platform an open source called joomla. A customizable source utilized to create free websites. The lack of experience drove Marco to hire the services of a company to host his site; this hosting company saw a threat as they also owned a community site that target the same audience. The data based and art work of mambo planet were trashed by the hosting company and claimed they had sent Marco an E-mail with all the files. The information was never recovered and mambo planet was taken off line.
Marco’s dreams were crushed after losing all the time and money invested in the development of his site. When he was about to abandon the idea of having a community site, he met Ivan Hueso (Web master/ Developer)
Ivan was only 20 years at the time old but had the knowledge and experience to build a networking site of any sort. These two young students became partners and decided to start from zero. Ivan advised Marco that using a free open source to develop websites; (joomla) was not a good idea. He commited to build a community site using original art work and programming.
After seeing the importance and advantages of creating our own templates, designs and applications for a more solid online community, they decided that the name Mambo Planet was no longer an option and Umambo.com was ready to be born.
The original founders of U Mambo are Marco Peralta and Ivan Hueso. Both of them are currently getting their bachelor’s degree, Marco in Advertising and Ivan in Interactive media and design. Along the way, Miguel Peralta (Marco’s Twin brother) joined the team; he is currently studying Film & Digital Production.
In fall of 2007 The Kaufman Twins (Seth and Adam) met The Peralta brothers and instantly established a great rapport. After brain storming about the best way to integrate their expertise in business, the two sets of identical twins (Marco, Miguel, Seth and Adam) along with Ivan as their main programmer created GMG (Gemini Media Group), a limited liability corporation.
With five Managing members and an executive manager (Delilah Phelan) the team grew stronger. At that time the group of young entrepreneurs determined that dancing was part of a greater community; Entertainment.
This broad industry then became the primary focus and niche umambo.com wanted to target.
